BEST LAWYERS

Jeffrey E. Kaman is the Administration Department and Columbus Office Chairs.  Jeff earned his law degree from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law, after graduating with honors from Loyola University Chicago with degrees in Honors History and Political Science. Since joining Kaman & Cusimano, Jeff has worked intensively in all areas of community association law, and focusing on association operations, answering many general operational telephone calls, and spends significant time drafting governing document amendments, reviewing contracts, and writing opinion letters for the Firm’s condominium and homeowner association clients.

In addition, Jeff is an active member of the Community Association Institute, serving as a board member for the Central Ohio Chapter, and the Programs Committee Chair for the Ohio Valley Chapter. Further, Jeff is the national chairman of CAI’s case law update summary team, which reviews and summaries all major community association court opinions from around the country, to advise CAI’s community association attorney members on trends and updates in the condominium and homeowner association legal field.

As a member of his condominium association’s board for six years, Jeff is able to empathize with today’s challenges that face all community association board members by being both a board member and a unit owner. Using that experience, Jeff is constantly attending community association meetings with the goal to develop further relationships with our clients and their professional property managers, and to educate board members and owners on Ohio community association laws on topics such as reserves, collections, enforcement, insurance, pending legislation, and developer transition issues, as well as to moderate elections, explain governing document amendments, and elaborate on owner and association responsibilities.

Further, Jeff enjoys confronting the challenges and opportunities for condominium and homeowner associations presented by technological advancement. He has been influential in deploying ATLAS: the Association Total Legal Assistance System, Kaman & Cusimano’s state-of-the-art online resource for board members and community association managers. Jeff also routinely writes for the K&C Community Association  Law Blog and numerous other online articles.

In 2021 and 2022, Jeff was named as an Ohio SuperLawyers Rising Star, an honor conferred upon less than 2.5% of the attorneys in Ohio.
